I qualified from Edinburgh in 1993, and worked as a GP Partner in
east London for 10 years until I decided to become salaried again
in 2019. I completed my dermatology diploma with merit in 2008,
and have been working in a variety of dermatology clinics since
then. I also have an MSc in Public Health and a Diploma in Tropical
Medicine. I worked initially for 5 years as a hospital clinical assistant in
dermatology with professorial support in UCLH in central London,
doing general skin clinics, HIV skin clinics, and clinics in travel & tropical dermatology. During that time I co-authored 4 book chapters on dermatology.
Since then I have been working as a GPwER in 2 different dermatology services in
south London, with Communitas Clinics and at Guy’s hospital community
dermatology service. I was also on the committee of the Primary Care Dermatology
Society (PCDS) for 4 years, and for 3 of those years was the editor of the PCDS
Bulletin. I have published review articles on Lyme disease and HIV dermatology for
MIMS Dermatology, and have also written dermatology articles for Pulse. I have
given talks previously for Pulse Live and MIMS Live. I do minor surgery and
currently do 4 GPwER dermatology clinics per week.
