Level 3 Training

Having bruises can be a normal part of childhood but it can also be a sign of abuse. So, how can we tell the difference and what actions do we need to take if we suspect abuse?

In this Level 3 training I will cover:

1. Recognition of the pattern of ‘everyday bruising’ in children

2. Recognition of how inflicted bruising in children differs from everyday bruising

3. How to record your findings

4. Understanding the notion of a ‘sentinel injury’ in child maltreatment

5. Other non-accidental injuries and cutaneous mimics

6. The effects of COVID lockdown on the incidence of bruising and its recognition

7. Where to find evidence-informed guidance on bruising in children

8. What action to take when you are considering or suspecting child maltreatment (NICE CG89)

9. Where to obtain advice when you are concerned about a child with a bruise

Meet the Speaker
Dr Yasmin Husain

Yasmin has been practicing as a GP for 28 years.

She does one clinical session a week in a Practice in Birmingham. She started her career in safeguarding in 2014 as a “Safeguarding Champion” for Birmingham Cross City CCG.

She has been a Named GP for NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB Safeguarding team since 2018 and does 5.5 sessions a week. As part of this role, she has responsibility for the Learning and Development programme in Birmingham and Solihull and has therefore been very active in providing training for all Primary Care Staff- clinical and non- clinical.

She designs bespoke presentations depending on the audience and their safeguarding learning requirements. She is also a Clinical Educator for the IRISi Domestic Abuse programme which is a collaboration between Primary Care and local Domestic Abuse services across England and a trainer for Prevent (radicalisation).

She understands the learning needs of Primary Care Staff by participating in domestic homicide reviews, child safeguarding practice reviews and safeguarding adult reviews.

Do You Provide Recordings Of The Zoom Webinar?

None of our webinars are recorded, due to the presentations being copyright and therefore the intellectual property of our speakers.

Do I Get A Refund If I Cancel?

All paid course fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. Our fees are so nominal, they cover administration costs of the event, which have already been incurred (e.g., Admin time/Website Costs/Card Payment Processing Fees). Please let us know if you are unable to attend, as it will allow your place to be allocated to another delegate. If you fail to attend a paid course, you will still have access to the course downloads. If you fail to attend a free course, you will not have access to any post course materials. To notify us that you cannot attend the course, please send an email to rebecca@mediconf.co.uk

How Do I Access My Certificate And Course Materials?

After attending one of our courses, certificates of attendance and any course materials are available for 6 Months in relation to Sole sponsored events and 12 months for all other events ONLY. After the course date, please log onto the Members Area of our website, to obtain your documents. If you require a duplicate copy of your certificate, an admin fee of £15.00 will be charged. This payment can be made over the telephone using all major cards.
