Dr Archana Rao

Dr Archana Rao is a consultant dermatologist, educator and committed to increasing knowledge about hair and skin health in perimenopause and menopause.

Archana trained in dermatology and dermatosurgery at Imperial College, London. She has the unique experience of being dual trained in dermatology, in the United Kingdom as well as overseas.

In keeping with her role as an educator, she serves as the education lead for the British Hair and Nail society. She is an invited lecturer at international and national meetings, has presented several papers at these forums and has taught trainee dermatologists on courses nationally. Her work appears in peer reviewed publications and Archana has been quoted in the lay press on a range of skin and hair related topics.

She is an advocate for maintaining healthy skin and hair in perimenopause and menopause, and featured in the top ten menopause podcasts in 2025.

Archana was awarded a gold medal for her study on the dermatoscope on ethnic skin by the Indian Association of Dermatologists. She is a recipient of five scholarships from the European Academy of Dermatology and the European Hair Research Society, including one which invited her to Bologna for advanced training in hair loss She has been awarded double clinical excellence awards by Kingston Hospital in 2019 in recognition of her work and contributions to the Trust, and in 2020 for her work during the Covid pandemic.
