I am a General Gastroenterologist at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals (LTH) with a special interest in most aspects of gastroenterology, particularly luminal gastroenterology and hepatology. Having been quite skilled at video games in the past, I have developed a natural passion for endoscopy. I particularly enjoy Bowel Cancer Screening, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), and therapeutic GI endoscopy, which includes a wide range of upper and lower GI interventional procedures.
I am a Faculty Trainer with the Northwest Endoscopy Academy and regularly teach on JAG colonoscopy courses.
During my registrar training, I completed a PhD at the University of Manchester, studying the mechanisms of visceral pain hypersensitivity in the esophagus. This research resulted in several national and international presentations, publications, and a few small prizes along the way.
I have a strong passion for healthcare management, implementing change, and service development. At LTH, I have served as Associate Clinical Director and later as Clinical Director of Medicine. I then completed two terms as Associate Divisional Medical Director, overseeing Specialist Medicine.
I am the co-founder and co-managing director of Alimentary Solutions Limited (ASL), a multi-framework approved provider of healthcare services, rated GOOD by the CQC. We provide a range of diagnostic endoscopy and radiology services to hospital Trusts (via insourcing) and in the community (via outsourcing). At our purpose built diagnostic facility in Whittle-Le-Woods, Chorley, we perform procedures for a number of commissioning partners across the NHS, Research and Independent sectors.
