More and more Parents are presenting to General Practice with their children asking for a referral because they think their child is autistic.
Many parents say that they have realised that they may also be neurodiverse after reading up on the topic and being told that it can run in families. We are therefore making more referrals to the Adult Autism services as well for formal diagnosis.
There are long waiting times for children and adults to get a diagnosis on the NHS.
So, what can we do to support our autistic patients while they are waiting? To answer this question and others, I will be co-delivering this training session with two guest speakers from Autism West Midlands
Together, we will cover the following Learning Outcomes:
Session 1 - Dr Yasmin Husain, Angela Styles & Amanda Phillips
Understanding Autism
Break and Promotional Presentation
Session 2 - Dr Yasmin Husain, Angela Styles & Amanda Phillips
Supporting General Practice to support our Autistic patients
