Paul Dromgoole Paul has worked as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse now for 30 years with posts in Brighton, Leicester, York and now North Lincolnshire.
He has a background in behavioural management (RNMH) and General Nursing (RGN). After gaining an MSc in Diabetes, he was employed half-time as a Lecturer Practitioner in Diabetes at the University of York, teaching at pre-registration level through to trained nurses, medical students and (particularly) Practice Nurses, Pharmacists and GP’s. He was also an External Examiner for the University of Ulster.
Since then, Paul has taught and facilitated extensively throughout the UK, promoting evidence-based approaches to diabetes management, behavioural strategies and effective running of diabetes clinics. His educational sessions are consistently highly evaluated in terms of clinical content, relevance and practicality.
Paul is interested in all aspects of diabetes management including therapies, Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and Hybrid Closed Loop (HCL) systems and also in strategies to support patient engagement with and management of their condition.
He still practices clinically 2 days a week at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust as a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Diabetes and an Honorary Lecturer for Hull York Medical School (HYMS).
He also has his own educational consultancy (BetaPresentations Ltd).
Outside or work, Paul is a keen scuba diver, PADI Dive Instructor and a Trustee of Ingham Memorial Heritage Centre – a 2nd World War Polish Bomber Memorial site and museum.
