Professor Raj Thakkar Raj’s roles include GP partner, primary care cardiology lead for the Oxford Health Innovation Network and member of the national cardiac transformation programme (NHSE). He is also on the national EAGs for lipids, heart attack and heart failure. Raj is President of the Primary Care Cardiovascular Society (immediate past president, end of September 2026), Honorary Visiting Professor at Cardiff University Medical School, and UK medical director for Healthy.io. Previous roles have included Clinical Commissioning Director for Bucks CCG/BOB ICB in planned care and Cardiac Lead for the TVSCN.
Raj has worked as a presenter on BBC Radio and is a medical writer, speaker, and advisor. He has published over 200 articles and several books including the MIMS consultation guide which won the BMA book of the year. He has achieved two AF pioneer awards, was a national finalist for GP of the year in 2017 and a national HSJ finalist.
Emily Turner Emily Turner is the Lead GP Practice Pharmacist for a large practice in Leeds, with a special interest in cardio-renal disease. She also serves as the West Yorkshire Clinical Lead for CVD Prevention, working across the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership to improve cardiovascular outcomes.
Emily contributes nationally as a member of the England CVDPREVENT Audit Clinical Panel, the National AF Expert Advisory Group, and as a Clinical Educator for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. A highly experienced speaker, Emily brings a wealth of expertise and practical advice.
