To improve understanding of the different categories of ‘recurrent’ urinary tract infection, to think about management strategies and to discuss some clinical cases.

Treatments discussed will include:

  1. Treatment dose antibiotics including self-start antibiotics
  2. Prophylactic antibiotics including post-coital antibiotics
  3. Vaginal Oestrogens
  4. Methenamine Hippurate
  5. D-mannose & Cranberry

Meet the Speaker

Dr Jon Rees
GP, Tyntesfield Medical Group, North Somerset
Specialist interest in Urology

Jon Rees trained in Urology in Taunton and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999. He then spent 3 years completing research into the impact of prostate cancer on the quality of life of men and their partners, and was awarded his MD thesis in 2003. In 2004 he switched to General Practice and is now a partner at Tyntesfield Medical Group in North Somerset. He continues to work in Urology, providing Community Urology services in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
  
In 2014, he founded (and now chairs) the Primary Care Urology Society – for GP’s with an interest in Urology or who wish to develop skills in this area. (www.primarycareurologysociety.org)
